North Melbourne Kangaroos axe three more in Turner, Mahony, Bonar as off-season  changes continue

Three more players have been delisted by the Kangaroos.

NORTH Melbourne has moved to axe another three players, delisting Kayne Turner, Aiden Bonar and Jack Mahony.

Turner, 27, played 130 games for the Kangaroos, Bonar featured 28 times after joining from Greater Western Sydney and Mahony made 44 appearances.

The trio won’t be offered contracts for 2024, joining Jacob Edwards, Flynn Perez, Phoenix Spicer and Lachie Young in being delisted.

Ben Cunnington, Aaron Hall, Daniel Howe and Jack Ziebell retired, while Todd Goldstein and Ben McKay left the club as free agents.

“Kayne made a significant contribution across his almost 10 years at Arden Street, highlighted by his recent induction as a life member of the club and two seasons in the leadership group,” North general manager of football Todd Viney said.

“He always had a team-first attitude, and we thank him for his dedication to North Melbourne.

“We also thank Jack and Aiden for all their efforts and their dedication to our program during their three years here.

“These decisions are never easy to make, and we wish all three men the best for their future endeavours.”

The Kangaroos brought Dylan Stephens, Zac Fisher and Bigoa Nyuon in during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, while they also signed ex-Swans rookie Toby Pink as a delisted free agent.

Adelaide could receive a timely boost ahead of its clash with third-placed North Melbourne on Sunday.

Vice-Captain Sarah Allan, who has not played a game this season, could be set for a return from a hamstring injury.

Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said Allan would complete a full training load this week.

“Sarah did a big block of training last week and we expect her to do the same this week,” Harper said.

“She has hit all her markers and is going really well.

“Given she gets through the week without any issues, she should be available for selection this Sunday.”

Yvonne Bonner, who has missed the past two games due to a medial ligament strain, is also nearing a return.

“Yvonne is continuing to increase her training load and has started doing more  change of direction activities ,” Harper said.

“She is tracking well, but may need another week before she returns.”

Abbie Ballard successfully underwent surgery on her ACL on Friday.

“Abbie had surgery on Friday  which went well,” Harper said.

“She’s in good spirits and will head back home to her family farm to recover before starting her rehab process in the next couple of weeks.”
