Who were stand out performers for the Huskers on Saturday?

Game Balls: Who stood out against Minnesota?

Win or lose there’s always some impressive performances that stand out from Nebraska and Saturday was no different as the Huskers defense held up throughout the game to give the team a chance.

Here’s who Husker247 sees as players worthy of getting a game ball on Saturday:

Emmett Johnson: His weaving, determined 29-yard run on the Huskers’ final drive would have been a main talking point after this game if the Big Red doesn’t bungle the drive inside the 10. He finished with 84 yards on 17 carries, and was Nebraska’s most dependable man on offense with the ball in his hands. Turnovers kept happening around him, but his ball security has been good and he’s showed in recent weeks he can be an important piece of the Husker future.

Ty Robinson: One of Nebraska’s advantages in this game appeared to be up front and Robinson represented that with his play throughout the game. He batted down passes, he hurried Taulia Tagovailoa into an interception, he recovered a fumble, all while finishing with seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Robinson has had good games several times this season, but today was as statistically dominant as he’s been this season. There was a sequence where Robinson helped force a three-yard loss, sacked Tagovailoa though a penalty erased it and then he ran down a screen play for a short gain to help force a punt. Nebraska has a lot of issues, but defensive line play isn’t one of them and Robinson is a big part of why.

Javin Wright: Many have wondered when the light would go on for Nebraska linebacker Javin Wright, and it burned bright in Saturday’s loss to Maryland. Wright made an athletic interception on the sidelines, tapping a toe to give the Huskers a key takeaway. He also forced a fumble in the fourth quarter with the Huskers backed up in their own end zone that helped to set up Nebraska’s last offensive drive into Maryland territory. Wright led Nebraska with eight tackles on the day to go with the interception and forced fumble.
