Matija Sarkic has spoken out about his failed summer transfer to Stoke City, claiming that circumstances beyond of his control caused the move to fall through.
Sarkic was set to leave Wolves this summer and to make a return to Stoke City, where he was on loan throughout the previous campaign.

However, the transfer never happened, and Sarkic finally joined with Millwall. Since then, the 26-year-old has made five Championship appearances for his new team while recording two shutouts.

He has since spoken out about leaving Wolves in the summer and his unsuccessful transfer to Stoke City, telling South London Press:

Yes, Stoke had interest, and I believed it would materialize. It didn’t happen for a variety of reasons that were not on my side. Football is unpredictable in that way. You believe something is happening for a split second before it stops.

I’m over that. Here, I’m concentrating on Millwall. Everything tucked away on the side is ignored. Actually, the speculation is very stressful. You have no idea what is happening because one minute you believe you are heading here and the next that you are going somewhere else.

The Potters finally acquired Mark Travers from Bournemouth on loan, while Alex Neil’s team added 18 players overall during the summer transfer window.

Although Gary Rowett’s team spent well on players like Kevin Nisbet, Casper De Norre, and Sarkic, Millwall had a far more quiet window.

Sarkic will just be happy to be at a new, permanent club and to be playing regular games, even though it occurs in football frequently. The Lions’ season has gotten off to a shaky start, but Millwall boasts one of the league’s top defensive records thanks to Sarkic’s efforts to keep two clean sheets and only allow five goals thus far.

Of course, Sarkic still has a lot to show, and Rowett still has several strong goalkeepers at his disposal, like Bartosz Bialkowski.

After the break for foreign travel, Millwall will host Leeds United.

Hatters boss Edwards happy to 'completely depend' on 'pest' of a midfielder Campbell

Allan Campbell, a midfielder for Town, has long caught the attention of Millwall manager Gary Rowett, who last week eventually managed to sign the Scottish international on transfer deadline day.

After Hatters manager Rob Edwards acknowledged that first team opportunities would be restricted this season due to the team’s promotion to the Premier League, the 25-year-old was given permission to leave Kenilworth Road.

Speaking to the South London Press on his signing, Rowett said: “There has been a long-standing interest in him. He agreed to a season-long loan transfer to the New Den.

He is one of those athletes whose sheer drive and enthusiasm make it impossible not to appreciate. Along with that, he possesses a lot of other qualities.

“Over the past few seasons, he has demonstrated that.

He started several games for Luton last season in a division they were able to leave; this is something we also hope to do.

He’ll make a fantastic addition to the team.

We appreciate their quickness, ability to run both with and without the ball, and capacity to impede the opposition.

He can play in numerous roles, including attacking midfielder, running midfielder, and moving into the final third of the field.

“Let’s bolster it with a player who can contend for a spot on the first team.”a

At Birmingham City on Saturday, Campbell made his Millwall debut as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 draw.

The hosts tied the score on 53 minutes after Kevin Nisbet had given the visitors the lead, and Campbell then had his first game action of the year after being added for the final 14 minutes.
