Fabrizio Romano issues Everton transfer update on Jean-Philippe Gbamin contract

Everton and Jean-Philippe Gbamin have mutually agreed on terminating the contract of the midfielder, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 27-year-old was linked with an exit this summer and the Toffees have now made the decision to part ways.

Romano said on Kick at 23:22, “Gbamin contract mutually terminated at Everton.”

Good riddance

Surely there will not be many at Goodison Park who will miss the Ivory Coast international.

Since his move to Everton, he has seldom been fit and despite being at the club for four years, is yet to make

appearances in the double digits.

They would’ve hoped to get a fee for his services but it turns out that there was no interest from anyone to secure his services.

He’ll at least be off the wage bill and he will have demanded a certain compensation from the club but it was

mutually agreed on.

It remains to be seen how much he demanded and whether or not the Toffees made any efforts to find buyers for him.

He was understood to be on decent wages too so this has to go down as one of the worst signings in the club’s history.

Malik Mothersille says goodbye to Chelsea after trial at Everton as deadline day transfer update emerges

Chelsea at risk of losing academy talent Malik Mothersille with contract expiring next month - The Athletic

Malik Mothersille has “said his goodbyes” to Chelsea but the teenager is “unlikely” to sign for Everton after his trial, according to Joe Thomas.

The Liverpool Echo journalist reported via Twitter on deadline day (1 September) that the youngster was leaving the London side but is not expected to join the Toffees permanently despite having been in the under-21s squad three times already this season.

The Athletic on 14 August that the “highly-rated” 19-year-old had signed trial forms on Merseyside “in view of signing him on a permanent basis” but it looks like that hasn’t come off.

The initial report had noted “optimism an agreement between Everton and Chelsea will be formalised soon” but he did have other offers.

Missed out

As he is out of contract at Chelsea a potential move shouldn’t be under the time pressure of the transfer deadline at 11pm Friday.

So there is perhaps still scope for a late change of direction, although it would cost the club a compensation payment to the London club if a deal was now reached.

But if he has other offers then there was always the risk that he might be more interested in another destination.
