Liverpool have been linked with a move for the PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré.

According to journalist Francois Plateau, Liverpool have been in contact with the Dutch outfit regarding a move for the 25-year-old midfielder. The Ivorian international reportedly has a release clause of £32 million in his contract and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to trigger his exit.

It is no secret that Liverpool will need to sign a quality defensive midfielder this summer and they have been linked with a number of players in that position.

They tried to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion and Romeo Lavia from Southampton earlier this summer. However, both players have now joined Chelsea and Liverpool are left looking at potential alternatives. Crystal Palace midfielder Cheixck Doucoure is reportedly on their transfer radar as well.

Sangaré will be a more reasonable option because of the presence of a release clause in his contract. Signing the Ivorian for £32 million could prove to be a wise decision.

Liverpool have sanctioned the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho recently, and they will have to replace both players before the window closes.

They have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in order to add creativity and control to the side.  They need to bring in someone who will add physicality and defensive cover to their midfield as well.

Sangare has the physical attributes to thrive in the Premier League and he could be a quality acquisition.

The opportunity to join one of the biggest clubs in the world will be an attractive proposition for the midfielder as well and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool can secure an agreement with PSV now.

Agreeing on personal terms with the midfielder should not be a problem for Liverpool. They will be able to offer him a better contract compared to the one at the Dutch club and the player will be attracted to the idea of showcasing his qualities in the Premier League.

If the Reds decide to trigger his release clause in the next few days, a transfer could be wrapped up soon.
