Player says he’s pleased with Brighton’s departure.

 

Andi Zeqiri permanently switched to KRC Genk earlier this month after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion.

The striker was acquired by the Seagulls in 2020 from Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland, and he made 12 appearances in his first year at The Amex. He was loaned out to FC Augsburg and FC Basel by Brighton over the previous two seasons.

The 24-year-old revealed that his decision to leave Brighton permanently was motivated by a lack of stability in an interview with Het Belang van Limburg.

The international player from Switzerland also thinks his exclusion from the World Cup team was caused by Brighton’s choice to loan him out over the previous two years.

Naturally, missing out on being in Qatar was disappointing. On the other side, I also understand why I stopped attending,” he added.

“In recent years, I played for four different clubs. I traveled through Lausanne to go to Brighton, where I was leased out to Augsburg and Basel. I’m pleased that I was able to make a permanent shift to Genk since I need stability. This is the perfect club for me to take the next significant step in my career.

The vocalist had a variety of alternatives before signing with Brighton three years ago, and he has now disclosed what ultimately led him to choose the Seagulls.
“I had to pick the teams after my best season in Lausanne, where I scored 17 goals and added 8 assists at the age of

20 in the Swiss second division during the 2012-13 season. Zeqiri said, “Brighton had a clear strategy, and I also liked the Premier League.

Leandro Trossard, a former star for Genk, was a teammate of Zeqiri’s while he was at the Premier League team.
