Maggie MacLachlan will be assessed throughout the week after sustaining a lateral ankle sprain during Saturday’s game against Sydney.

MacLachlan underwent scans on Monday after landing awkwardly on her left ankle during the second quarter at Alberton.

Janelle Cuthbertson will also be tested, with the defender escaping serious injury from an incident early in the first term.

Port Adelaide has below provided an update on several players who have undergone off-season surgery.

KEY POSITION players Todd Marshall and Trent McKenzie headline a list of Port Adelaide players who will be undertaking a period of post-op rehabilitation this off-season after going under the surgeon’s knife.

Role clarity boosts belief for Marshall

Marshall had arthroscopic surgery on his right hip a fortnight ago. He will be managed through the early stages of pre-season and is expected to join in on full training after Christmas.

Marshall withdrawn from Round 24 team

McKenzie’s right ankle was operated on, meaning he is likely to ease into running before his expected return for pre-season training in early December.

As is common in the off-season for some AFL players, Ryan Burton, Darcy Byrne-Jones, Jeremy Finlayson and Scott Lycett have each had minor knee clean-outs.

Port forward on indefinite leave after father dies

Sam Hayes had his left AC joint repaired and Tom McCallum underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle but both should be back running by the end of this month.

In other positive news, both Tom Clurey and Mitch Georgiades are running well after respective long-term back and knee injuries, and Josh Sinn is progressing well four weeks after his previously reported hamstring surgery.

Players are now on leave and due to return for pre-season training from November 27.

Port Adelaide can confirm midfielder Xavier Duursma has requested a trade to Essendon.

Duursma played 16 AFL games in the 2023 season and still has one year remaining on his current contract with Port Adelaide.

The club will work with Essendon and Duursma’s manager to reach an appropriate outcome.

The Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period began today and concludes on Wednesday, 18 October.
