Ruben Selles: Reading boss urges players to find winning mentality

Ruben Selles, the head coach of Reading, has stated that his club needs to develop a “winning mentality” if they are to succeed in

League One this year.

Reading FC | Rubén: "We can't lose one second!"

Following their 1-0 loss to Cambridge United on Monday night, the Royals are now in 18th place.

In their first season in the third tier in 21 years, it was their fourth loss in their first six league games.

Selles stated, “We need that mentality to win games. “What we can do is develop that.”

Fejiri Okenabirhie’s goal in the 83rd minute at the Abbey Stadium ended the game. Reading has lost all four games this season by a

single goal as they attempt to acclimatise to League One after being demoted from the Championship.

Ahead of their next game at home to Bolton Wanderers on 16 September, former Southampton interim head coach Selles is

determined to work on the fine margins that need to go in his new-look team’s favour.

“We know the team we want to be,” Selles told BBC Radio Berkshire. “There are a lot of positive things in what we do but at the end of

the day we need to win football matches.

“We need to go through moments when we’re not that good and keep it at 0-0, and then when we have one chance, take it.”
