Sheffield United Transfers: Mama Balde link emerges as Heckingbottom presses for new signings
Sheffield United are pressing on with their attempts to sign new players and could now battle Everton for Guinea star, Mama Balde.
The Blades are stepping up their transfer business with just a few weeks of the window, as Paul Heckingbottom tries desperately to
add more faces to the squad.
And according to the BBC’s Mike Minay, Troyes star Balde is a player of interest to the Blades.
Minay has claimed that Everton, Burnley and United are all keen on doing a deal for Balde which could cost around the £6.8m mark.
Balde, 27, is known for his speed in wide areas and is accustomed to playing in a number of positions if needed.
Last season, Balde scored 12 goals as he enjoyed a fine season with Troyes. Of course, United have already done business with the
French club this summer to bring in Yasser Larouci on loan.
Paul Heckingbottom is likely to be a fan of Balde due to his versatility and attacking prowess. But whether or not the money is there to
do a deal, is another question.
Sheffield United News View: One to watch for Blades fans
While a lot of obvious names are getting thrown about lately like Cameron Archer and Joel Piroe, we should not discount United going
out and getting someone we know little about.
We’ve shown this summer that our scouting network takes us far and wide and given we’ve obviously watched Troyes a few times, a
link to Balde is no surprise.
As always, it will come down to money and if we have the finance in place. There is money in the club right now after the Ndiaye and
Berge sales. But just how much is actually in the pot, is anyone’s guess.
Balde looks a good player who can excite supporters though and if he is one we fancy, then it’s a wildcard punt who fans will be excited to see.
