UNEXPECTED ANNOUNCEMENT: the Texas Longhorns has Landed a super coach from…

Arizona Transfer Defensive Tackle Tiaoalii Savea Commits To Texas

The Texas Longhorns signed defensive tackle Tiaoalii Savea of Arizona as a multifaceted commitment.
Since the end of the regular season, the Texas Longhorns have been dominating the NCAA Transfer Portal market, acquiring exceptional players at a variety of positions that require improvement.

With the commitment and signing of former Arizona Wildcats defensive tackle Tiaoalii Savea to the program on Tuesday morning, that remained the case.

Savea is now the eighth player the Longhorns have added through the transfer portal, joining defensive linebacker Kendrick Blackshire (Alabama), tight end Amari Niblack (Alabama), offensive transfer receivers Isaiah Bond (Alabama), Silas Bolden (Oregon State), Matthew Golden (Houston), and edge Trey Moore (UTSA).

With two of the Longhorns’ best tackles, T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II, leaving for the NFL, where they might both be first-round picks, Savea, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 305 pounds, enters the team at a huge need.

And with those two departures creating a dearth of established depth at the position, Savea will be able to play for the Longhorns right away alongside Vernon Broughton and Alfred Collins.

At UCLA, where he started his collegiate career, Savea participated in ten games and finished with seven tackles in 2021. After that, he moved to Arizona, where in seven 2022 games, he made 14 stops, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one blocked field goal.
For the Wildcats in 2023, Savea contributed 22 tackles, including 6.0 for loss and 1.5 sacks.

And when Arizona defensive coordinator Johnny Nansen and head coach Jedd Fisch left for Washington, Savea made the decision to go through the portal and join Nansen in Austin.

Savea will still be eligible for one more year.
