West Ham have reportedly submitted an official bid in the region of £40m Conor Gallagher.

The report from Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are yet to provide an official answer as discussions will take place over the coming days.

The Hammers are looking for midfield reinforcements after Declan Rice joined Arsenal earlier this month.

And they have plenty to spend having agreed a fee of £105m plus add-ons for their star man.

Gallagher struggled for minutes last season at Chelsea, despite impressing on loan at Crystal Palace the season before under Patrick Vieira.

Frank Lampard’s interim tenure brought an improved position in the squad, as he started eight of the last nine games in the Blues’ disappointing Premier League campaign, scoring twice, but his time at Stamford Bridge could now be up.

Gallagher proved on a fruitful loan spell at Crystal Palace in 2021-22 that he is highly capable as a box-to-box midfielder, with his high energy and pressing crucial to Vieira’s team.

Reports have already begun to emerge that Gallagher could be one of the many players to fall victim of Mauricio Pochettino’s anticipated squad clear-out, after the Blues ranks became swollen following Todd Boehly’s £600m splurge.

Folarin Balogun: 'Super complete' striker faces uncertain future but Arsenal could regret letting him go | Football News | Sky Sports

Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun trained alone earlier today at their California base as the club prepare to face Barcelona on Wednesday.

The full 29-man squad were present at the LA Rams training facility in Thousand Oaks, with both Balogun and Oleksandr Zinchenko – who is still nursing a calf injury from the end of last season – training separately.

It’s unclear as to why Balogun trained alone, and comes at a time amid much interest surrounding the 22-year-old.

The striker also didn’t feature against Manchester United in New Jersey on Saturday, where 19 players were used.

Inter Milan are said to be preparing a £35million bid, while Arsenal value the player closer to £50million.
