NEW YORK (AP) – Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman has been suspended two games for a dangerous trip of Detroit´s Alex

DeBrincat.

The NHL´s department of player safety announced the ban Monday after a hearing with Hartman. This is Hartman´s second

suspension of 2023 after getting one game for interference in April.

As a repeat offender under the collective bargaining agreement, Hartman forfeits $41,463 in salary. He’ll miss upcoming games

Tuesday against St. Louis and Thursday at Nashville before being eligible to return Sunday against Chicago.

In a video announcing the suspension, player safety said Hartman intentionally sweeping DeBrincat’s feet out from under him in the

third period Sunday made it rise to the level of supplemental discipline, along with Hartman’s prior history. He has been fined six

times since making his NHL debut in 2015, including twice for tripping or slew-footing an opponent.

The suspension is just the latest blow to the Wild, who have lost seven in a row and won just five times in 19 games this season. The

team earlier Monday fired coach Dean Evason and assistant Bob Woods.

Berggren Has Big Week for Griffins

While the Red Wings had a Thanksgiving feast on the ice last week, winning all three games, the Grand Rapids Griffins split a pair at

home. Still, there were some highlights down on the farm:

Berggren Red-Hot For Griffins

J0natan Berggren has been on a tear in Grand Rapids since a brief call-up by the Red Wings earlier this month.

The 2018 seeond-rounder (No. 33 overall) had a goal and an assist in both weekend games against Manitoba, lifting him to 11 poonts

on the season, second on the team. One of those came on the power  play in a 5-1  win on Friday night; Berggren has scored all four

goals in the Griffins’ last five games.

Simon Edvinsson (No. 6 overall in 2021) has a three-game point streak, picking up five assists, He’s third on the Griffins with 10

points this season. He and Albert Johansson are considered the odds-on favorites to join the Red Wing next season, although that is

anything but guaranteed.

Austin Czarnik, recently returned to Grand Rapids by the Red Wings, has a four-game p0ints streak, including three goals. The

Griffins are in sixth place in the AHL’s  Central Division.
